Google officially announce the new Nexus 7: thinner, lighter and higher resolution display

Google have just wrapped up their press event in San Francisco and one of the more known announcements that has officially come to light is the updated Nexus 7 device. The new tablet will be very close to it’s predecessor with most of the core specs similar attributes. So let’s take a look at the specs.

  • 2GB of RAM
  • Dual band Wifi (802.11 a/b/g/n)
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • 4g LTE
  • HDMI output
  • NFC
  • Wireless Charging

Among the base specs we have a 7-inch IPS display with a 1,920 x 1,200 resolution (323 ppi), which is the biggest change over the previous Nexus 7 tablet along with it now being thinner and lighter . The new tablet will also be running Android 4.3 which was also expected and just announced. Google have only shared the US release which is set for July 30th for the WiFi only model costing $229 and $269 for the 16GB and 32GB models. No word on the 32GB LTE version with regards to price or availability.
