Review: Intel 4770k processor and Z87 chipset

Test setup
Intel Core I7 4770k CPU
Intel Dz87KLT-75K Motherboard (Stock tests)
Gigabyte Z87X-OC (Overclocked tests)
Kingston HyperX Predator 2400Mhz
Corsair AX860i and AX1200

Intel DZ87KLT-75K

Gigabyte Z87X-OC

Stock Tests

All stock tests are done on the Intel board and we pretty much booted up without touching anything and left the CPU at the default 3.5GHz with the 3.9Ghz turbo ratio. The Kingston RAM was left running at default which was 1600MHz.

Overclocked tests

We performed all benches again using the Gigabyte board and with a 4.4GHz overclock and running the memory at full speed (2400Mhz). The 4.4GHz overclock should be possible on any 4770k with regards to the silicon lottery. While 4.5Ghz should be possible on most chips, the amount of volts will be the deciding factor and then even more so cooling, but more on that in the conclusion, now it’s time to start looking at some numbers.
