Samsung, pretty much out of nowhere have announced two new smartphones coming to market. The new Galaxy A5 and A3 will both feature thin and complete metal unibody designs. Starting with the Galaxy A3, we have a 4.5-inch qHD display, 1.2GHZ quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. There is thankfully a MicroSD card slot available as well. The phone also sports an 8MP rear facing camera and 5MP front facing camera. The A3 weights 110.sg and is just 6.9mm thin. It also has a 1,900mAh battery
Stepping it up a notch, we have the Galaxy A5 with 5-inch 720p display and the same 1.2GHz processor, but with 2GB of RAM to play with. It also shares the same 16GB internal storage and MicroSD slot. The main camera jumps to 13MP with the selfie camera sticking to 5MP. The A5 comes in at 6.7mm thin and weighs 123g. It has a much larger battery at 2,300mAh.
The aim of both devices is for solid mid-range specs, but mainly a stylish device for teens. Samsung are also putting focus on social networking, but that mainly stems from the light, thin and metal design profile.
Pricing and availability are pretty scarce right now, but the devices are launching in China in November, with Samsung announcing their UK launch in “Due Course”. Both models will be available in Black, White, Silver, Gold, Blue, and Pink.
