Sony and Panasonic team up to create Archival optical disc, starting with 300GB capacity

Sony and Panasonic today have announced plan to release a new optical disc to provide larger capacities and long-term storage. The current plan/road map aims to release a 300GB disc sometime in summer 2015 with both Sony and Panasonic planing to expand the technology and increase recording capacity to 500GB and then 1TB.  We have included the official specs for the new optical disc below, but check out the source link for the press release.
